Mission

I’ve always been interested in art and drawing – I’m not one for maths or English. In 1981 (at nine years old!) I entered a Blue Peter competition to design a stamp. I didn’t win first place, but I was a top 50 runner-up, so I got the badge and letter. The thrill of that achievement at the age of nine has always been with me. I still get the same thrill from my day-to-day role now. Some you win, some you lose, but using design to transform a written brief into a powerful communication makes my job worthwhile.

After graduating from Falmouth School of Art in 1992, I spent the next nine years working in the design and advertising industry, both North and South, before establishing 55 Design in 2001. My mission was to bring a much needed new level of flair, responsiveness and value for money to the industry. I’ve never looked back.
